The Long Awaited Q&A

This is soooo long delayed but here are a bunch of questions that were rotting in my Instagram DMs that I sorted out and answered for you! I know there's a few new people following so hopefully these help you get to know me a little bit better!

Blogging -
  • What made you want to start blogging?
    • I've always had some form of a blog online. I started with Tumblr and had a private Blogger blog for years. As my instagram started picking up followers, I thought a better way to give tips, advice, and talk about things I love would be an official blog.
  • Why do you blog?
    • I blog more for myself than for anything else. It's my favorite creative outlet and combines photography, fashion, beauty, writing, and everything else I love in my life.
  • What's your favorite part about blogging? Least favorite?
    • My favorite part has to be the messages and emails I get randomly from followers saying how my blog has been helpful/inspiring to them. My least favorite part of blogging is when people assume that it's an easy thing to do.
  • What's the hardest part about blogging?
    • I guess just keeping up with it! No matter how much time I put aside for it, there's always double the work that I have left to do. Like if I put aside 2 hours for editing pictures, that can easily turn into 4 hours. You have to also engage a lot with other bloggers, brands, and people which makes it fun but can def get to be very time consuming.
  • What tips do you have for someone who wants to start a blog?
    • Invest! Invest in a lot of time, energy, and passion into your blog. My blog is like my baby. I cherish it, I find ways to help it grow, and I never give up on it. Before starting my blog, I also had a backup of 6 months of content and read almost every single article on Pinterest about tips on starting a blog and how to make it flourish.

Personal life -
  • What makes you, you?
    • I think it's my drive to always get I want. I can't really remember a time when I really wanted something and wasn't able to get it. Along with this, I think it's about the high goals and dreams I've always had for myself. When I was in highschool, I was always dreaming about the full-time corporate bosslady I wanted to be instead of just planning for my prom. Hm, and I think the last thing is that I have really high expectations and standards for everything and everyone in my life. I like the people and things around me to be above average - I think I've just always sort of been a princess since birth.
  • Where are you from?
    • So I live in Washington which is a state in the upper left corner of the United States. The town my parents and I live in is called Bellevue and is a high-end, elite, suburb that also has a lot of bustling corporate life to it. It's definitely not a major city but rather like a bougie version of Seattle (the closest big city to us). My parents are originally from Pakistan, but if someone ever asked me, I don't think I would ever call that home.
  • Are you single?
    • I get asked this question on almost a daily basis on Instagram, and I honestly try to figure out why it happens so much. I like to keep my private life private, but can say that I'm really happy right now. If one day something big does happen in my private life, I'll be sure to share that in a post :)
  • What is that ring you're always wearing?
    • So the silver ring I literally never take off on my right ring finger is from my Aunt. She gave it to me when my sister was getting married and it just fits really well and goes with everything so I never take it off (I literally take it off only before showering and put it back on as soon as I'm out). I have a few items of jewelry that are my go to and I just love wearing as much as I can, but this ring is my favorite.
  • Are you ever going back to school?
    • I've always wanted to get my Masters, but I think right now I'm pretty done with school. I think I'll work for a few years before thinking about applying to grad school or a professional program.
  • Where do you plan on traveling to next?
    • Soooo I have a whole list! I really want to travel out of the country to Greece, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Thailand. However, I also just want to take some short weekend trips to New Orleans, New York City, LA/Santa Monica, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. Oooh and I really want to go visit Vancouver, Whistler, and Victoria asap too!
  • Would you ever live outside the US?
    • I really love living in Seattle and there's so many different parts of it that I feel like I could find whatever I was looking for in a city right here... BUT that being said, I'm kind of always down for an adventure and would love to try something new! I never say no to anything until I've tried it at least twice :) Somewhere I could honestly see myself living in is Amsterdam!
  • What is your favorite scent?
    • I honestly love anything that brings back a memory! I repurchase the same candles over and over again because they bring back so many memories of the last time they were lit.
  • What makes you the happiest?
    • Hmm I think about this a lot! I really like being happy. I think at the end of the day what makes me the happiest is me. I put in a lot of effort to ensure that my life is one I'm really happy with. Each aspect of my life: career, family life, social life, hobbies, friends, etc. I kind of take steps to ensure that everything is the best it can be so that I feel fulfilled and satisfied and extremely happy with my life - which really is something I believe I am.
  • What's your favorite drink?
    • I have SO MANY! I love favorites!
      • Coffee: Starbucks iced grande caramel macchiato with two pumps raspberry instead of vanilla and no ice. Not shaken or stirred (trust me it's way more insta worthy that way!)
      • Tea: Green tea matcha warm latte with soy milk
      • Other: I love anything and everything fruity and sweet, but don't do soda at all

Career -
  • What do you do for work?
    • Right now I'm working a job I dreamed about when I was a kid - which was basically anywhere I got to sit behind a desk. I'm in the marketing field and work for a company local to Seattle. I won't disclose too much about my job because I'm in the midst of switching and looking for something more fit to what my college degree was in.
  • What would your dream job be?
    • So I'm totally trying to figure that out right now believe it or not! I really see myself doing something creative but my problem with that is that it usually doesn't pay as well as the jobs I can get that aren't creative. I want to find a mix of the two - something kind of creative that also pays for my shopping addiction. I've been applying to jobs in digital marketing, content creation, user research, ux design, and of course social media marketing, but I'm also interested in HR and PR roles :) Being fresh out of college means really trying to find myself, so I'm kind of okay with this right now.
  • Would you ever blog full time?
    • I would LOVE to blog full time. One day I hope that my blog will accumulate enough of a following and I will accumulate enough hours in the day to make that happen. I think out of all the jobs I've ever worked (and I've worked since I was 16 from corporate jobs to retail to admin positions) I think I love blogging the most. It's just a combination of everything I love: marketing, social media, photography, design, fashion, beauty, and most of all getting to talk about myself ;)

Beauty -
  • How much makeup do you own?
    • I get asked this all the time! I don't own a lot of makeup actually! I do however own like 4 things of the things I love. For example, my Milani 2 in 1 foundation? Yeah, I have 3 backup bottles in my shade for it. I also LOVE collecting dupes of high end products so if I love a contour pallet from a brand at sephora, I'll try out almost every drugstore contour pallet trying to find a dupe for it! Sooo I guess in total, I use all the makeup I have so I don't think my 6 drawer wide collection is too excessive (but that's just me)!
  • What do you have to put on your face every single day?
    • I really love my routine right now for work. I start with moisturizer, face oil, foundation, concealer, then I bake for a solid 15 minutes with translucent powder while I do my hair. After this, I go hard on the bronzer and blush. Because I have lash extensions right now, my eye makeup is literally just brushing through my lashes. If I'm feeling it (and I'm always feeling it lol) I'll apply highlighter to my cheekbones and nose and then put on a nude brown matte liquid lipstick.
  • What makeup can you not live without?
    • Currently, I think my face oil (from Dua Body) has been making my skin so perfectly dewy under my makeup that I think I would die if I ever lost it. I also just love long lashes and think they make any look complete!
  • Lipstick or Lipgloss?
    • Lipstick (and as matte as it gets)!
  • Bronzer or Blush?
    • Oh shoot, this is a super hard one! I think bronzer because ya girl loveeees a good contour.
  • What are your go-to makeup brands?
    • I have a specific brand per product! I guess an overall brand I adore has to be Anastasia Beverly Hills (no surprise to anyone)!

Fashion/Shopping:
  • What are your favorite places to shop at?
    • Zara and Nordstrom Rack are my serious addictions
  • How do you shop so much?
    • Hmm I think I shop just the right amount hehe. I'm pretty conscious of my monthly budget to spend on clothes, but a lot of my clothes also come from companies and brands that have reached out to me. It's all about knowing your proportions, limits, and what you want out of your clothing. I know for me, I love buying a lot of black because I know I'll wear it a lot more than my brighter clothes. I kind of just budget and buy things I only really LOVE.
  • What's your favorite accessory?
    • Omg lately, it's totally been flashy earrings. BUT I can't live without my Kendra Scott necklace that I literally always have on (it's the Alicia style in that light pink stone) or my Tiffany bracelet!
  • What are your go-to brands?
    • Topshop, Kendra Scott, BCBG, Lush, Zara, American Rag, Missguided, Lulus, Who What Wear, etc.
  • What's your favorite trend right now?
    • I love soooo many trends right now, fringe jeans, embroidery, big sleeves, over the shoulder tops, gingham prints, high waisted anything, midi dresses (because they totally fit like maxi dresses on me), silk camisole tops, and wrap dresses!

That's all for now! As always if you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave a comment below or shoot me a message!

Best,
Aani xx
