Expressions of Style Fashion Show

MY EXPERIENCE
Today I wanted to talk about my experience at the Expressions of Style Fashion show that took place in Redmond, Washington on December 10th. The fashion show focused on modest beauty and featured international fashion designers as well as some local ones.

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by The Seattle Times for my opinion on this event! You can read that article here

MY ROLE:
I was recruited to be 1 of 3 makeup artist for the models walking the run way. This was the first time I had done makeup for a fashion show so I had no idea how fast I would have to work. It really made me realize how much more relaxing a one-on-one makeup session is. In about 2 hours I had to complete full faced makeup looks on 7 women including the MCs. The pressure was on!

The thing with doing something you love is, you can enjoy it so much that your other thoughts (like time, surroundings, etc.) are just a feather on your shoulder. The tough time crunch helped me realize how much I enjoy working under pressure and making people (and things) look their best.

Over all, I got to decorate the faces of 5 models and 1 of the 2 hosts of the show! Everyone seemed to love their makeup, especially the winged eyeliner I mastered. My favorite things about my role was how happy the models seemed when I finished their look and that I got to enjoy the fashion show after the makeup was complete.

MY OUTFIT
Because this was a fashion show show casing modest outfits, the dress code had to match. Everyone attending was wearing clothing that looked every classy and elegant. There were many outfits that I caught myself admiring! I decided to go with a black Alfani jumpsuit, a black cardigan (to cover my bare arms), a fur vest, and some nude heels. This is pretty much my go-to outfit during the winter season - all black with some fur or bright accessories.
